Principle Cigars Tin Advertising Signs
Collection #1

Today, we are bombarded with advertising. Yet the traditional ‘Advertising Sign,’ the artistic and innocent announcement of a product, is a lost art.

In its continued drive to inspire elegance in advertising and in the spirit of this lost art, Principle Cigars has created a series of ten signs, each in the style of a different place and time. In the end, art is all that survives.

Each sign in the collection measures 12” x 17” and has a hole in each corner so that it can be hung easily.

For a limited time, all Advertising signs are 20% off the normal price of $25!

Ask For Principle Cigars

An innocent, American, 1920s art deco. A ‘soda-pop’ deco comfortable to the working person. One with an obvious beauty and clear message, but that wouldn’t condescend to or be misunderstood by the average consumer.

Accomplice

In contract to the previous sign, this more serious, European art deco really doesn’t care of someone doesn’t understand it. It is simultaneously soft and severe, like a lover who can be a friend or enemy. While firmly an art deco image, it has strong Art Nouveau holdover/transitional elements in the design and text.

Complex, Balanced, Unforgettable

Americans didn’t have a monopoly on lightheartedness. While still European in nature, this sign allows playfulness to flourish without losing site of who it is.

Mid-Century

We jump forward a few decades to the 1960s. Not flower child 60s, but also not Audrey Hepburn. An image refined enough to incite the everyperson to think of the finer things in life, but not so high-brow as to condescend or leave them out of the fun completely.

Aviator Series

The Aviator Series needed a sign of its own. We wanted to move as far from its ‘moderne’ and industrial edge as possible without leaving the boundaries of its core art deco style. This was the result.

French Art Deco

We are back in Europe for this classic, French art deco work. Simplistic beauty and uncomplicated elegance.

Classic American Pinup

The title says it all. 1940s American pinup imagery at its best.

Art Nouveau

Art Deco could not exist without Art Nouveau, classic, French turn-of-the-century Art Nouveau Placeholder Text.

Commonwealth

Classic art deco with an industrial twist and contemporary edge.

Angelique

The hand-drawn, script ‘Angelique’ logo is inspired by the many spectacular department store logos from the 1960s. Department stores have just about all switched to modern, clean designs, leaving this style lost to the world and making it something we felt was important to resurrect. For this sign, we wanted to carry the refinement of the logo into the art and transport you to an elegant 1960s.
